Remembering reasons
Sep. 22nd, 2008 11:50 pmIt's the end of the first day of Viable Paradise. The students have all had their first taste of workshopping, and most seem to be taking it well. I've been sous-chef* for three dinners, all of which have been excellent, and though I've gotten my Dumbass Action out of the way, I've also figured out reparations and reminded myself to sleep. And so far, I've kept to a chapter revision per day. They've been good chapters, too.
Right now I'm alone in the staff den, writing this entry by flickering firelight. I can hear the laughter of students down the hall and the heavy silence of the island outside. My body is tired and healthy and strong, my mind is soothed and clear, and my spirit is warm and rested. Tonight my dreams will be good ones.
This is why I'm here.
* Also, I just like to say "sous-chef."
