Dear Yuletide Santa,

Thank you so much for writing something for me! This is my first time participating in Yuletide, and I can't wait to see what happens.

I hope the details I gave were useful. I really don't have much to say beyond them, but I like repeating myself, so I'll do so here.

I tend to prefer gen or het over slash, but if you think you can change that with some really good slash, go right ahead! Smut is fine, though a good story is, for me, more intriguing than smut. (I know, I'm boring.) I have a low squick threshold when it comes to both incest and lack of consent/dubious consent, so I'd greatly prefer it if you stayed away from those areas. Crossovers are just fine; in fact, given the King's Roads, the Twilight/Gloom, and the world of MirrorMask, I think there's plenty of room for them.

What I like about fanfic is how it explores the gaps -- the what-happened-afters, the unwritten but present dynamics, the really cool stuff that's alluded to but never quite given full form.

In terms of the individual fandoms: Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell is so rich that there's a wealth of untold stories waiting for us. Vinculus' role in particular fascinates me, especially how he is both written and rewritten by the Raven King. (Hmm...how do I describe all of these different works without giving away spoilers? I don't know which one you've been assigned, and I don't want to ruin the other two for you.) The passage in Chapter 67 about the Last Reader of the King's Letters is also interesting; I'd love to see something about that "starlit, summer night." (I should also mention that regardless of plot, if you can mimic Clarke's style I will worship you.)

Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor) is a lot more open for me. There's so much potential for backstory (and interstitial story, and epilogue), especially among the Great Magicians. I love Geser and his fiendishly complicated plans; I love Olga (and would like to know just what she did the last time she was let out of her owl's shape), I'm curious about Zabulon both in the movie and the books (he seems to be two different figures in each, while the others are less divided). And then there's Anton, the coin tossed, the pawn for both sides. Anything that captures the feel of these stories would be great.

For Mirrormask, I'd really like a what-happened-after in the mirror world. I have difficulty believing that everything returned to the status quo. How did Anti-Helena change? Does she ever manage to talk sense into the Dark Queen? Is she now an exile from the Queen of Light's kingdom? Where is her place, now that Helena has found hers?

Hm. That's a lot more than I'd meant to post. Overall, I'll be glad to read whatever you have, and I hope you enjoy writing it.
