We picked up a copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows yesterday afternoon, and I read Chapter One aloud as we drove back later that night. Unfortunately, the light gave out before we got to the next chapter, so I had to wait until we got home to read the rest. I finished it late last night, and now have the neck cramps to prove it.

Some people have already posted thoughtful, reasoned analyses of the book and how it fits into the Potterverse as a whole. What follows is neither thoughtful nor reasoned.

NEVILLE NEVILLE NEVILLE WOO!
NEVILLE SLASH! NEVILLE CHOP! NEVILLE KICK SNAKEY ASS! AND ALL WHILE HIS HEAD'S ON FIRE!!!!!!

Oh, Professor Longbottom. You can teach me Herbology any day.

(His head was on fire, man. On Freaking Fire.)

She should have titled it "Harry Potter Triumphs Once Again Without Doing Jack Shit While Everyone Else Suffers"

Honestly, I've never read about a hero who has done so little while reaping such huge rewards and accolades.

At least he realizes he is not a hero. He's very clear on that.

Marketing probably would have turned that down.

My question is, where did he get the friggin sword? I've been trying to figure that out for 2 days now.

The sword comes with the hat, just like Harry pulled it out of the hat in Chamber of Secrets.

He pulled it out of the VORTEX OF SHEER NEVILLE AWESOMENESS. Because he is NEVILLE, and therefore AWESOME.

Yeah, I'm not gonna be any good at in-depth analysis here.

Neville, whom we forgot was also possibly The One! Neville saved the day! I am thrilled with Neville's character arc. Well done, that boy.

Yeah. I love me some Neville. (I'd have liked a little more Luna, but hey, I'll take what's there.)
