Dedicated to all the wonderful geek girls I know:

I'm a geek, and for me that doesn't suck!
I am proud to have eight ranks in Knowledge: Strange,
Or to let my fangirl instincts run amuck
Making high-pitched noises out of hearing range!

I adore slogging through the Silmarillion
To find a continuity mistake,
Or deciphering old Carl Sagan's "billlyuns"
Or fragging someone's sorry ass in Quake!

After dissing Phantom Menace
For the seventh time this week
I give Firefly for penance,
I enjoy being a geek!

When my fanfic comes back beta'd
Without a single canon squeak
I dance 'round the room elated
I enjoy being a geek!

I flip over changing mutant powers,
I can run a Star Trek panel on my own,
I play Everquest or Warcraft at all hours
While reciting Monty Python on the phone!

I'm strictly a squeeing fangirl
And I love to stay up till three
Talking Westeros or some Discworld
With a guy being a geek liking a geek…like…me.

When the game gets too generic
And the party's looking weak,
I break out my half-orc cleric
And enjoy being a geek!

When Joss Whedon gets sadistic,
And the fans are up shit creek,
I stay sadly optimistic
But enjoy being a geek!

My puns are acclaimed as "mostly funny,"
I sing They Might Be Giants in my sleep,
I can bring the Hail Mary in Lunch Money
And come up with twenty uses for cloned sheep!

I'm strictly a raving fan dork
And I love to curl up with he
Who knows Timelords and Beyond Zork
And who loves being a geek loving a geek…like…me!

And in praise of your geekitude, I think you've come up with a R&H song I don't even know!
This is a beautiful, beautiful thing:-)

"I Enjoy Being a Girl" from Flower Drum Song. I had to sit through the first half of it in class (no, I don't remember what class or why) and urrrrgh. The stereotypes were already making me ill, and then this song...blerg.

I like to think I've redeemed it somewhat.

This makes me almost ridiculously happy. And yes, you've improved the original a thousandfold. :)

Hey, if you need more impetus to procrastinate, how about a similar adaptation of "My Favorite Things"?

Hee hee. Thanks for the giggles.

Have I ever told you about the parody of "Iowa Stubborn" a friend and I crafted in high school? It replaces the line "I really ought to give Iowa a try." with "I really ought to give suicide a try." It's sick and twisted, but I still think it's pretty damn funny.

I've never fragged anyone. *feels sad*

Now are you going to sing it at Arisia? *evil grin*

You should post your lyrics to "I'm the Obi-Wan"

I'm mildly embarrassed by those. Besides, they were a joint effort.

When she says "joint effort" she means the two of us collaborated and absolutely no chemicals of any kind were used. Or smoked.

Thank you! Sorry for the slow response; I rarely check old posts.
