Weenie dirigible!
The telemarketing division of where I work has been doing these weird "Celebrate the Season" decorations, usually with balloons. Big Mylar balloons, floating up between the cubes. When April started, it was the spring motif,so we had big balloon flowers and butterflies and dragonflies and, for some reason, frogs.
I think that, having used the flowers and butterflies for spring, they must have been at a loss for the summer motif. They went with a Summer Picnic theme. This means that there are now large balloons in the shape of ice cream cones, hamburgers, and lobsters all over their side of the cube farm.
And hot dogs. Giant inflatable hot dogs (with ketchup, mustard, relish, and onions) two and a half feet long. Hovering over people's desks.
I keep seeing them and imagining giant weenie dirigibles on the horizon, raining fire and corrosive sauerkraut on an unsuspecting populace...

My favorite weenie-dirigible story involved a weenie-dirigible that wasn't. I visited the Herbert Hoover presidential library with my parents and aunt and uncle once, and as we were crossing the grounds from the birthplace house to the library building, we saw a big mylar balloon in the distance. It had writing on it which no one could quite make out, but it was vaguely weenie-shaped, and my uncle squinted and declared "It says Oscar Mayer! It's just an advertising balloon."
When we got closer, it turned out that it was advertising, not hot dogs, but the new WWI exhibition at the library, called "Over There." Whereupon my dad immediately started warbling, to the obvious tune,
"Oscar Mayer! Oscar Mayer!
Send the word for mustard and Worcestershire!
For the franks are coming, the franks are coming,
So throoooow some charcoal on the fire!
Oscar Mayer!"

You betcha! The crawfish were clearly the best, with their little lifeless claws hanging down as the balloons gradually worked their way up to the ceiling...
