So I'm sitting at my own happy iFruit, typing away, with a much faster response time than would normally be possible, all because [livejournal.com profile] thomascantor is a wonderful, wonderful man. He's hooked up our computers, which means I can mooch off his DSL line. Mooch!

The trip to Indiana was...well, weird and good. Good because, as [livejournal.com profile] sigerson's pointed out, our younger sib rules. And when she's done, she rules some more. Weird because it was very strange to be home not during a holiday.

- The constant superimposition of the past on the present was very distracting. I kept expecting to see things in different places, to hear slightly different sounds. Nowhere was this more pronounced than at the Academy.
- Whee! Corn! I missed you, corn!
- Heh. My sister said 'unit' in her speech. (I was actually noting down little things during the ceremony, and found 'heh - unit' written in the notebook. I'll never make a good field observer.)
- What do you make of a graduation address titled 'The Divine Tutelage of Mr. Spock?' Well, it was pretty funny. In fact, all of the student speeches were great and kicked the superintendent's speech's ass. If speeches have asses.
- What is it about being led in prayer that brings out the secular humanist in me?
- They're playing "Music of the Night" arranged for marching band! Kill me now!
- The low brass is off key.
- After conferring with thomascantor, I confess I am in error. The rest of the band is out of tune with the low brass. Priorities, girl.
- Future choral conductors (yes, I'm talking to you, wavyarms), take heed: When you select a choir based on prettiness rather than vocal ability, you end up with crap. And don't allow your musical sense to ossify in the 1980s.
- We got to play with fire! The parental units have a firepit, and we used it. Burned some shit real good.
- I had a Strawberry Cheesequake. I am now a more complete person.
- I do love my dad, and I know he's supportive of my writing, but I really hate it when I enthuse about an idea for a story and he rolls his eyes. I mean, I know he's just trying to be funny, but it puts a dent in the whole 'supportive' thing.
- My awe at thomascantor's patience and powers of concentration may never cease. Not only did he survive the graduation ceremony, he loaned me his headphones when we were in front of the unhappy baby on the flight back. Wow.
- I miss cookies. Why don't I have more cookies around the house?
- sal_sal definitely needs another laundry bag.

In other news, I plan to post a few examples of the comic I've been drawing sometime in the next couple of weeks. Keep in mind that this is stretching the definition of 'comic.' The delay has less to do with creative endeavors and more to do with my lack of web savvy; I know I can get it onto my wso page, but it may take a while, and I also want to make it legible in the meantime.

And now I will go attempt to make scones using sigerson's Scottish scone mix. Or mixed scones. or something.
