Two feet of snow. That's quite enough, thanks. It'd be beautiful if I didn't have to shovel it; the wind sculpted some gorgeous drifts. Unfortunately, some of the most beautiful drifts were on top of [livejournal.com profile] thomascantor's car.

Busy weekend, and not just because of the snow. I figure after inflicting my Arisia insecurities on you guys, I owe you a report on how well it went.
Friday night I showed up in the corset [livejournal.com profile] cute_fuzzy_evil made for me and a leather jacket over that. (And yes, a skirt too.) I'm not used to looking good, but damn, I looked good. I'm also not used to guys looking at my cleavage. I know, when wearing something like that I can't really complain, but it's just not something I have a lot of familiarity with. (More on cleavage below.)

I went on stage for SF Jeopardy, which was run very much like regular Jeopardy, host's banter and all. We were one player short, so a gentleman from Pandemonium Books and Games volunteered. He then kicked all of our asses and came in first place. But I came in a very respectable second. Yeah.

I ran into [livejournal.com profile] anu3bis and talked a bit, then got caught up in the Horde LARP he was part of. Whee! I don't know how often I could LARP -- keeping a different persona for a long time without breaking character can be difficult -- but Horde-style ones seem just fine. I got to be a zombie! Three times in a row! Braaaaiinns...

Exhausted, I headed on home, slept, and returned the next morning. I went to a few panels, exchanged some gaming stories with other geeks, and discovered [livejournal.com profile] shideem and [livejournal.com profile] shgb watching a Higgins Armory demonstration. We wandered the Dealer's Row and found [livejournal.com profile] eeblet, who was beautiful as usual, and I got convinced to try on a leather corset. Oh my god. Oh, my God. I looked really good. Really, really quite good. I mean, I suddenly had cleavage through the sweater that I wore under the corset. Is it just me, or does anyone else respond to cleavage by wanting to toss olives at it? Or grapes, or wadded-up bits of foil, or whatever's at hand? It's not so much sexual as it is an available target; I just want to toss things at cleavage.

Because the corsets are 1) custom-made and 2) really damn expensive, I have made a promise to myself. When I sell Spiral Hunt, I will buy this corset. Remind me of this in future.

[livejournal.com profile] sigerson showed up, and we wandered a bit, then the two of us snuck off for a bit of much-needed twinspeak.

I went back for a panel and unexpectedly ran into people from VP (Jim and Debra, and then later Kate!) who I hadn't expected to be at Arisia at all. But it was great, and I told Jim that he does not need to come to my house and mock me, as he had threatened.

The masquerade was a little uneven for my tastes -- I still don't understand why that one piece won it at Worldcon, and I didn't like it any better here -- but still fun. I watched a few trailers at the halftime, then realized I was getting too exhausted and slipped out into the snow.

Sunday, well, I'd meant to go on Sunday, and there were several things I wanted to attend. But the GIGANTIC HEAP OF SNOW dumped on us put a crimp in those plans. (One of the panels I'd hoped to attend was something along the lines of "New Writer Blues: How to deal with editors, etc., and how to act at a con [italics mine]." I just bet there was some part that said "Don't act like a squealing fangirl." Oh well.) So instead I slept in, dozed off, made soup, and generally hibernated. And I don't feel a bit guilty about it.

And now I'm sitting in front of the iFruit while dinner simmers away in the slow cooker, enjoying the slowness of this day. I would be drinking hot chocolate, but I told myself I don't get that particular prize until I'm actually writing instead of procrastinating on LJ. Maybe I'll even get Chapter 8 done today!

sorry i didn't get to chat with you or anything but i'm glad you had fun :)
(sad i didn't get to see the corset too!)

and i'm assuming the costumes must have been really freaking impressive up close, because yeah, their performance was totally boring and the costumes idn't read from stage. there were a bunch of them, but other than that...
