Dream imagery compared to a two-by-four upside the head

After a long, stressful week, I dreamed last night that I was doing even more stressful things (running a con, attempting to feed half of the congoers, straightening out the other half's love lives). Then the entire cast of said dream stopped to sing "For Now," from the Avenue Q soundtrack, complete with choreography and multiple voice parts. I joined in on the last line: "Everything in life is only for now."

Thanks, subconscious. Not so big on subtlety, are we?

I see I'm not the only one who dreams in billboards. (Maybe you've heard me mention my recurring dream that D and I have a baby and bring it home to discover that we have no crib, no diapers, no baby clothes, no stroller, etc., and in the dream I actually say the words "We're just not ready for this!")

Oh, don't get me started on baby dreams. Not good. Really not good.

Well, you could try out my dreams for a while....

No, no, thanks. I like my sanity.

Hmmm, and I just dreampt that I returned to an avatar of my brother's high school on a mission to reach the swimming pool. On the lawn, I encountered two men wearing giant dragonfly kites and three or four women in white, petal-like dresses. I had to play a kind of formalized tag to get by them, waving my arms as though I was doing the breast stroke and then bowing. Then I set off across a field, with a monk and his son, in ankle deep snow that grew abruptly deeper, to waist height and then to chest height . . . and as I woke up, the child said Outwardly, he is prepared. Outwardly, so are you.

Yeah. At least the dragonflies were beautiful. Sky-blue.

Wow. That's both scary and beautiful.

I've always been rather fond of my recurring telekinesis dreams...I'm pretty sure I know the message: I want telekinesis. I want it stupid. The epic battle in the (catwalk of my high school auditorium/rafters of the Billsville college pool) against an alien-possessed squirrel with incredible jumping powers and my only weapon being the old bolster pillow from my youth was a little tougher to decipher.
