It's the busy season.

The department's three people down today (one on leave, one on ill-timed vacation, and one too sick).

Because several of us were in late, there was a backlog of work by the time everyone who was coming to work was at work.

The editorial department is shortstaffed too, meaning that several papers are going more slowly. That the editorial material comes in slowly does not change the ultimate deadline, though.

I had a large frothy cup of something from Starbucks in order to shift into overdrive and get it all done.

Several hours and at least seventy pages later, I can see the crash approaching. But I can also see the end of today's work.

Nope. No qualms about my decision to go. Not if I can escape this.

And now, I have to go stop the chipmunks from running around in my head.

Plus you really ought to let Kevin Sorbo out of the oven.

Good luck with the fleeage! It sounds more and more well-deserved by the moment.

I wish you hadn't said chipmunks, because I sang your post in high pitched harmonies (inside my head).

They're nice people, it's a nice place...but oh dear god I want to get away from it. Still can't decide what this says about me or the job, but that can be meditated over some time when I have functioning brain cells.

Would you prefer monkeys? Terrifying space monkeys?

Just be glad they aren't badgers.

Nope. This one was maple something, but by the time I got about halfway down it had become the Mighty Cup of Productivity.

Pumpkin spice might have to wait till the next time I need to be in a state of controlled spaz.

Just as long as they aren't in the engine room. =)

Why *wouldn't* you want chipmunks in your brain?   I mean sure, they make a mess, but that's what the dark-color carpet is for - no one will notice.

I, um.

I feel like I just had a brief psychotic episode involving kittens and the beach.

And now it's stuck in my head.

Good show!
