And here's the result of that last meme. Bet you're all wondering what the hell the hypoallergenic dog is about.

1. A water pik, a cuisinart, and a hypoallergenic dog
This is from "Sugar Daddy" from the soundtrack to Hedwig and the Angry Inch. I've only seen the show, so I don't know if it's in the movie, but it's a fun song. I always thought a hypoallergenic dog would be something Martha Stewart might own.

2. I got them in my garden now and you’re not welcome here...COME HERE
"Control" by Poe, from the album Haunted, which ties into House of Leaves for those of you who've read it. After a check on a lyrics site I realized I had it wrong; it's actually echoing the last two words. But I like mine better.

3. And he knew what they needed. They needed doughnuts.
ellinor got this one; "Party Generation" by Dar Williams. I really like the idea of a place named "Krispy Korner's All-Night Sugar Palace."

4. Don’t get me wet because the bandages will all come off
shideem knew the Dresden Dolls, of course. They rule. This is from "Girl Anachronism," not my favorite on the CD, but still a great song. I think they've even made a video for it; it should be on their website.

5. (screaming, strange talking) (Really. This is what it says on the lyrics sheet.)
This really wasn't fair. Sorry.
"Approaching Pavonis Mons by Balloon," The Flaming Lips, from Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.

6. You get me closer to God...God! (not the version you’d think...)
anacrucis and ellinor both knew this, though neither dared to scribe the name of Richard Cheese, whose lounge-ridden cover of "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails this is. (ooo…convoluted sentence) ellinor, I don't know whether it was played during Trivia, but I have a sneaking suspicion it was.

7. Head shaped like a pool cue and a thing for gasoline
"Midnight Cabaret," by The Reverend Glasseye and His Wooden Legs. This was the only overlap between my list and sigerson's (well, artists overlapped; this was the same song, even). Good to see sal_sal knows it by now; we gave her the CD. And we managed not to steal that one.

8. Count the arms, the legs, and heads and then divide by five
"Certain People I Could Name", They Might Be Giants. This was what I was thinking when I dubbed this the Obscure-a-thon; it's from a compilation of b-sides (post-Miscellaneous T) called "They Got Lost." Some great tracks, some lame, most worth a listen.

9. And I always get those dangerous dreams
"It Just Won't Quit," Meat Loaf.
Well, the meme did say not to take out the cheesy ones…

10. then GOD is seven
"Monkey Gone to Heaven," The Pixies. I knew this song back in high school and have become reacquainted with it due to sigerson's monkeymix CD.

11. So what about the stock market?
Again, not really fair; this is from "We Got the Gun" by Clint Mansell, from the Pi soundtrack. It's mostly movie dialogue remixed and changed, and this quote opens the track.

12. You can try on our suede underwear if you choose
Yes, osirusbrisbane, this is Weird Al, "King of Suede." Only Weird Al in here, though.

13. The only constant I am sure of is this accelerating rate of change
"Downside-up," Peter Gabriel. Yeah.

14. and especially the c sharp seventh
Thanks for correcting my musical terminology, anacrucis. From "Autoharp," by Hooverphonic. It's off their less good album, but I still kinda like it.

15. Fire and flight and candlelight
"This Ay Nicht," by the Medieval Baebes. Their pronunciation of Middle English is off, they screw around with the lyrics, and I can't believe they read "sleet" for "flight." But it's the only version I've ever heard of the song, and its weird chanted quality makes it stick in my head.

16. like I wanna fuck every man in sight
"Daddy I'm Fine," Sinead O'Connor. I could go on about asserting one's sexuality and the right to desire, but I'll just say that I like this song.

17. We drink and we die and continue to drink
osirusbrisbane is right; this is from the "Traditional Irish Drinking Song." My version isn't Denis Leary singing, though; I think it was covered by someone and that's what I've got. Wish I knew who.

18. But maybe everything that dies someday comes back
"Atlantic City," Bruce Springsteen. Could be about either the promise of resurrection or zombies, depending on my mood.

19. After years of waiting, nothing came
Since sigerson didn't, get this I'm wondering if I got the lyrics wrong. I mean, I got the song from sigerson. But anacrucis got it, so maybe I'm right…anyway, the song's "Reasonable Man," by Radiohead.

20. I don’t believe in prophecy so don’t waste any tears
ellinor, shideem both got this; it's from the Run Lola Run soundtrack, "Believe." One of these days I want to sit along the Boston Marathon route blasting this from a huge set of speakers as the runners lope by.

So it looks like eight didn't get any responses, three weren't fair, and the rest were known by someone at least. Cool.

And yeah, I liked how the lyrics all fit together. I did do some pruning -- my iTunes tends to play lots by the same artists in clumps, so I took out repeats. So it doesn't show how heavily my playlist is weighted toward TMBG and weird shit.
