NEVILLE SMASH!
Aug. 11th, 2005 05:39 pmYet another irregular update:
Good: We're moving into a new apartment!
thomascantor has the whole story (it's friends-locked, though, since it covers some sensitive stuff).
Bad: We're not packed.
Good: The new apartment's kitchen has more counter and cabinet space than both of our last places put together!
Bad: We're really not packed. I'm going to be doing a packing blitz over the weekend, and it helps that we don't have to be out till the 31st, but it's a daunting task nevertheless.
Good: I finally read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince!
Bad: I am very put out that the scene involving Neville piloting a giant robot was apparently cut. NEVILLE SMASH!
Good: The job search continues, with interest from a number of good places.
Bad: The job search continues.
Good: Got to visit my family up at the cabin last weekend. Dozed off in the sun, built a sandcastle Orthanc (and then flooded it!), ate too much tasty food, and got to talk a lot with my parents.
Bad: Now I miss them even more. And I didn't get to dunk
sal_sal nearly enough.
Good: Because Interzone is allowing e-subs in August (and allowing people to resend stuff that's been stuck in their snail mail slush pile), I can find out what's up with the story I sent them a year ago.
Bad: Like I need more "why haven't they responded yet?" jitters.
Good: I got the pesky flashback in the new Chapter 4 written, and even managed to work it into the story well enough that it's not a lump o' exposition!
Bad: Due to the apartment search, packing, job search, family visits, etc., I haven't got very much past the flashback. It helps that I know where I'm going, but I haven't had much time to write, and it's showing in my mood. Plus I'm reading
sewoods' novel and watching other BASF people plow through their new work and revisions, and the usual writer jealousy occasionally rears its ugly head. Darn you, real writer folk! Darn you to Heck!
Good:
thomascantor rules.
Bad: There's not really anything bad about that.
Good:
sal_sal has given me a very cool mix CD, and I'm listening to it right now as I get through the drudge part of Thursday work.
Bad: Because of
sal_sal, I now have "Funkytown" stuck in my head. I'd take my revenge via LJ, but she's away from the net and won't even see this entry till Sunday at the earliest.
I'll have to try the Bananaphone cure.
