Ragna rok on

Brief plug here for the group Sequentia, who have set pieces of the Icelandic Eddas to music. They take a little getting used to -- chanting and storytelling and odd dissonances are not everyone's cup of chai, but they are damn cool. Especially the entire "Prophecy of the Seeress . . . " the bit about Ragnarok gives me chills.

Also, in this particular poem, there's a passage that I really like, and they've set it beatifully. It's a recital of the companies of dwarves, fashioned out of earth, and ...well... hearing three voices chant "Veigr ok Gandalfr/Vindalfr, Thrain/ Thekker ok Thorinn/ Thror ..." is just damn cool, even if you're not a Tolkien scholar.

Being a fan of the eddas, sagas, kalevala, etc, this sounds like my cup of masala chai.

I can attest to stealthmuffin's views here on Sequentia (I being the one who got her hooked). Heard them live a few months ago with another group — excellent singing.
